The tower will be restored

Good news!

The stone observation tower on Wayah Bald will benefit from federal stimulus funds, Wayah District Ranger Mike Wilkins confirmed Monday.
...
Money for the tower is included in funding allocated for repairs of CCC projects. Wilkins said he expected the restoration would cost more than $75,000, but the exact amount will depend on the bids that come in.

Wayah Bald tower in the fog

Made a trip up to the tower today (Feb. 28), and took a lot of pictures. It was drizzling and foggy, but not too cold.
